I feel like John Mayer is just following protocol. Say something that is completely offense to someone else, try to play it off as a joke then after that doesn’t work, Cry. To me, it was a joke that bombed ridiculously, and I wasn’t that offended but a lot of people were. I don’t know how genuine it can be because he apologized in Nashville. That would be like me apologizing to white people in Hyde Park in the south side of Chicago.
