For the record, I will never say the phrase “taking my talents” again. I just couldn’t help it. I understand that every time I spend a dollar at the store that I’m giving 24 cents to China, but do you really have to take my basketball too. It looks like Kobe, D. Rose and others are thinking about getting a quick payday if the league doesn’t play next year. I always thought that Kobe would go cash in but just not this soon. Anyway, let us know what you think.

Via Clutch Magazine

How Do You Say ‘Lockout’ In Chinese?

David Stern may soon need to find out as it appears several of his leagues’ top players are thinking of going international.

With NBA team owners saying they want more of a share of the leagues $4 billion revenue, it seems basketball season is over- at least in the U.S.A. Now, many players are looking for profitable ways to use their downtime and are looking to play overseas, a move usually reserved for amateurs or players past their prime.

According to a report from The Los Angeles Times, Laker’s star Kobe Bryant is considering playing in an exhibition tour of China, where his jersey has been the number one seller for years back.

There are preliminary talks about a basketball tour to China this summer — and perhaps beyond — in which the Lakers superstar, who has called China a “home away from home” and has an enormous following there, would be the headliner with several other NBA stars forming two or three barnstorming teams.

Bryant and his agent Rob Pelinka are trying to put together the tour, said Minnesota Timberwolves rookie forward Derrick Williams, who also is represented by Pelinka.

Though many have questioned whether or not the players would legally be allowed to work elsewhere during the lockout, one of the names listed as a potential for touring China is none other that Kobe’s teammate, Laker Derek Fisher. Besides his dagger jump shot, Fisher is also know for his current role as president of the NBA players union.

According to Sporting News other NBA superstars could join in the China tour as well:

In a “China Basketball Tour” proposal summary obtained by SportsBusiness Journal, a sister publication of Sporting News, Wasserman in April began floating a plan to bring 15 to 20 of its NBA clients to China for a two- or three-week tournament if there is a work stoppage. The agency represents 45 NBA players, including this past season’s Most Valuable Player, Derrick Rose.

<img width="543" height="301" src="http://thegiftedlife.com/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/timthumb/timthumb.php?src=/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/new-york-knicks-vs-new-jersey-nets.jpg&w=543&zc=1&zcp=2" alt="The New NBA: Nets > Knicks” />After today, a couple of things are apparent in my life. There is NOTHING our people won’t fight over (thanks FAMU) and the soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets are going to take over New York . I never thought I would say this but looking more and more like the Nets are developing a habit of getting the better of their New York neighbors.

While all Knick fans pound back 7 oz rocks and burn their computers because they just read that, I will do some explaining for the rest of us.

1) Deron is a better player and as more trade value than both Amare and Melo. There has only been 6 players average 17 points and 9 assists in NBA history. D. Williams is one of those players. Every 2 years the league gets either an “unstoppable” scorer. And thats assuming that teams will be able to stop Williams when he is calling his own number 60% of the time

2) Both Amare and Melo need a steadying force on the offensive and defensive side to be competitive. Neither one can (or will) defend at all and both need someone to get them the ball. Williams is a great example of a player that can facilitate the offense or get his own shot, and he can play okay D. Not good, not bad, just okay.

3) The Knicks trusted Isaiah Thomas. It’s kind like dealing with a person after rehab (S/O to The Sheen!). They might be making a few good decisions (and these deals have been great) but you can’t deny that you aren’t waiting for the next relapse in judgement. Something about Dolan that just screams “you gave Eddy Curry how much?!?!” everything I think about him. By the way, Preps was the greatest show ever!

4) in a non-basketball related manner, have you been or seen Brooklyn lately!?! This is not Mookie’s Brooklyn. BK is turning in to what Manhattan would be if they had the space and didn’t have to deal with all the tradition” of the arena. Other than the driving and parking situation, it’s going to be a great addition to the scene that already exists. Basketball is a young person’s game and kids are NOT loyal. Matter of fact, I’m willing to bet that if kids knew how much it would hurt adults if they cheered for the Nets the Jerseys would be sold out! Basketball is hip and young; not black and white footage and Willis Reed videos.

Well, I think you get my drift. Let me know what you think.

Stay Gifted.
