Social networking sites love them or hate them they have changed the way people interact. People’s lives have become open books to anyone with an internet connection. Friends from kindergarten can find you on Facebook and reconnect over that time you hit them in the head with a building block, college friends who have moved to different cities can stay current in each others lives with out missing a single beat. But for all it’s good this constant connectedness has severely warped the way some of you view friendships. An un-following on twitter now rates up there with the sleeping with a friends significant other, killing their mother, or smudging their pumas. I’m here to remind you that…

IT’S NOT THAT SERIOUS!!!

If you don’t want to read my tweets just un-follow trust me I wont be offended. I know some of you look at it as the end of the world but honestly no one needs to be constantly plugged into their friends. Twitter and Facebook are supposed to be fun they’re supposed to be outlets those of you that have substituted them for “official” means of communication and as a “genuine” expression of friendship have forgotten this fact. A phone call, an email, a text message these are forms of communication with friends. A tweet a status update ehh not so much, so please don’t get offended when a friend chooses to un-follow because you use your twitter account to post “eating a salad, took a dump, at work, and hey @so&So what time is dinner tonight”, and don’t you feel hostage to follow someone who only posts these things or who posts too much for your enjoyment like I said in the title… IT’S ONLY TWITTER.

Stay Gifted,

Boy meets girl.. mutual attraction occurs.. flirting ensues… numbers (bbm pins) are exchanged… text messaging happens… drinks are had… more text messaging… date 1.. and then everybody lives happily ever after right?

Well in a perfect world yes, but increasingly I’m finding theres a disconnect between the women who want to be pursued (and they should be) and the men who are doing the pursuing (which fellas you should be doing). And I understand that sometimes things don’t work out you decide that you’re on different paths things of that nature, but I’m talking about when two people genuinely like each other but some how the signals get crossed and the connection is missed. It’s frustrating on both sides because when you genuinely like someone you’ve mentioned them to your friends and when they ask about your progress the convo goes something like this.

Best Girlfriend: so girl what happened to that guy you were dating?

Girl: I don’t know he play too many games, he stopped hitting me up as often.

BG: Well did you hit him up?

Girl: No, you know I want him to pursue me.

BG: True, Men these days are on some other stuff.

Girl: TRUE!!! On To The Next One!!

somewhere the guy is having this convo at the exact same time

Homeboy: Yo son what happened to shorty?

Guy: I stopped calling, got tired of chasing her.

HB: True, has she called?

Guy: No, obviously she wasn’t interested

HB: Welp, on to the next.

Guy: True.

(dialogue isn’t my strong suit SUE ME)

See the disconnect here? The woman wants to be pursued and the man is tired of chasing her. Who is right? Who is wrong? The truth is they’re both right. Theres just a bit of a break in communication. Fella’s we’ve become victims of our own devices, remember out complaints of “she doesn’t give me enough space” well the women heard and now they give too much space. Ladies for the pursuit/hunt to work effectively the hunter/purser needs feed back, you can’t stand so far off without giving feedback that the pursuit is going well or its going bad. Yes. he should be calling and asking for dates in the beginning (none of that come over and watch me play xbox crap either, talked about later), but you need to provide incentive whether it be a text or a phone call or an email you need to let him know that what he’s doing is working. If the hunter loses sight of his prey he looks for signs to resume the hunt, if he finds none he moves on to different prey, the same principal applies here if you don’t provide that man with the feeling that his pursuit is going well he’s going to become discouraged because while the pursuit is fun, the chase is not.

Gentleman when pursuing a woman, let her know what the rules for engaging you are because if not shes going to listen to her friends and their advice just might be counter productive to dealing with you. So if you enjoy a high level of engagement let her know, if she can take a more hands off approach to you let her know these things up front as well.

Communication is Key. Without it the pursuit becomes the chase and a love connection gets missed.

Just my thoughts, what are yours?

So one of the founders of this blog not so politely told me that I needed to get back in here and write more, in fact it was after coming to my defense for an incident on twitter. Apparently A LOT of the Howard Twitterverse caught a brief exchange between myself and another Bison and for about 15 mins it was a topic of discussion. He told me that when people asked his view on it he said “the individual was probably mad because, Hood (me) said something that stuck in their brain.” (yes I’m being as vague as possible because 1) its over 2)so not the focus of this post) He then turned to me and said I needed to come back, that my posts made people talk and think.

So here we are… well I’m in bed with a bum knee… and you’re probably out because it is Friday night as I write this. I’m back to make you think, piss you off, and hopefully get you talking with friends. This is going to be a two way street ask me questions, sound off about how much you hate me lets create a dialogue and hopefully make something special.

Stay Gifted… (are we still saying that Cody?)
