I reeeivcd the email, and I researched the issue they were trying to address. I was not aware of the removal of gifted education programs from the state education standards. On the website I searched on the Msip 7 standards they are removing, and I agreed that there didn’t seem to be any logical reason to remove them, other than to make it easier for school districts to water down gifted education to what a district decides it is. Any how I was not offended. Hopefully people will be prompted to read about the issue before answering the survey in the manner outlined in the email. Educated people do their homework. Also, The state of Mo was ramming these new standards through without input. Educators/stakeholders spoke loudly to have some input before they are officially adopted the new standards. Much like congress, we don’t want a bill jammed down on us only to find out what is in it after the fact. I’m glad i had an opportunity to agree with the gifted ed. community at Rockwood.Maybe some people will answer blindly, some won’t do the survey at all, but really we should believe that people should research the topic before answering blindly.I have no role in any of the emails sent out. I am just a parent with kids in the Rockwood school district. I am deeply concerned about the path this school district is going down. But the email sent out does not concern me, I was glad for it.
